Per chi avesse un portatile con le seguenti interfacce IDE:

lspci | grep IDE

e, compilando un kernel 2.6.21(o inferiore) senza initird riceve questo errore:

VFS : Cannot Open device “sda6″ or unknown block(0,0)…. unable to mount… Kernel Panic ecc ecc

Oppure è riuscito a far partire il kernel ma senza supporto DMA per il Lettore DVDCd-rom anche se sono stati inclusi i driver dei dispositivi, deve editare il .conf del kernel nella seguente maniena:

Per ulteriori chiarimenti eccovi il .config del kernel 2.6.21 compilato con patch Kolivas su toshiba M70-249_CD ma dovrebbe funzionare per altri portatili o sistemi simili.
